Jimmie Brand, 67

Jimmie Brand, 67 of Kenwood Drive in Duluth, Ga. died Friday, Sept. 23, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga.

Funeral services were held Monday at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Dr. Paul Luthman and Dr. Biff Coker officiated. Interment followed in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Dothan, Ala., Mrs. Brand had lived in Duluth, Ga. for a year and half. Prior to the move to Duluth, Jimmie and her husband Jack were longtime residents of Fifth Avenue in Albany. Mrs. Brand was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was retired from First State Bank with 10 years of service and Easter Seals of Albany with 4 years of service in the marketing department. Jimmie loved gardening and sewing, and will always be remembered for the love she gave to her family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Brand of Duluth her children, Becky Gabaldon of Duluth Darryl Ellrott of Commerce, Bo and Matt Brand of Sylvester, grandchildren, Ben and Kate Gabaldon, Taylor, Jack Fletcher, Chloe and Parker Brand, sisters, Martha Nobles, Nettie Peterson, Betty Butler all of Albany and Barbara Mashburn of Jacksonville, N.C., brothers, Donnie Moss of Smithville and Kenneth Moss of Leesburg.

Mrs. Brand was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice H. Garcia, sister, Debbie Holton and a brother, Ronnie Moss.

Hannah Faith Lamb

Hannah Faith Lamb, newborn daughter of Joshua and Rebecca Lamb, died Monday, Sept. 19 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  A private funeral service was conducted Saturday at Mathews Funeral Home.  Pastor Keith Smith officiated.  Interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Survivors also include, paternal grandparents, Emory (Bubba) and Leslie Lamb of Pelham, Ga., Sheila and Wayne Jordan of Albany, maternal grandparents, Herb and Chris Brooks of Albany, maternal great-grandparents, Evelyn Brooks of Newton, Ga., paternal great-grandparents, David and Eloise Clearman of Albany, and Bo Lamb of Valdosta, Ga..

Robert (Bob) Craven Lewis, 91

Robert (Bob) Craven Lewis, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home Saturday morning, September 24. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Porterfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor, Dr. Donald M. Kea and Rev. William Collins officiated. Interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery. His grandchildren will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. They are, Trey Whitt, Kevin Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Parker Lewis, Jeffrey Harrison and Jessica Harrison.

Mr. Lewis was born September 6, 1920 in Rex, N.C., the youngest child of Lula Jernigan Lewis and Thomas C. Lewis.

Having joined the N.C. National Guard, he served in WWII on the Italian front and spent two years there. Mr. Lewis moved his family to Albany from Laurinburg, N.C. in 1959 in order to manage Blue Equipment Company. He was active in the community, having served as president of the YMCA, past president of Doublegate Country Club, served on the Salvation Army board as well as the American Cancer Society board. He was an active member of Porterfield United Methodist Church, having served as board chairman as well as various committees. Mr. Lewis was also a member of the Alpha Sunday School Class.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and caring friend. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty four years, Jean, one son Robert Craven Lewis Jr. (Bobbye) of Greer, S.C., three daughters, Ann Lewis Abel (Sonny), of Albany, Deborah Lewis Kraemer (Mark) of Cibolo, Tex. and Kimberly Blue Lewis, of Atlanta, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Lois Martin of Whiteville, N.C. and Ida L. Johnson (Bill), of Clinton, N.C.

Betty Ann Pitre, 70

Betty Ann Pitre, 70, of Albany died Friday, Sept. 23 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Mike O’Neal and Dr. D.W.Caldwell officiated.  Interment followed at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Vienna, Ga., Mrs. Pitre lived most of her life in the Albany and Lee County, Ga. area.  She was a Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by her mother, Sara Julia Hamlin Paul.

Survivors include her father, Marvin Paul of Albany, two daughters, Debra Gilbert of Albany, and Sarah Ellis and her husband, Walter, of Phenix City, Ala., a son, James Howard Lanier of Albany, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
