The 50 churches and missions that make up the Mallary Baptist Association are sponsoring “Love Our Counties Outreach and Food Distribution” Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in three locations within the three counties: Dougherty — Sunnyside Baptist Church; Lee — First Baptist Church Leesburg; and Worth — Bryant Drive Baptist Church.
In coordination with Second Harvest Food Bank, the association purchased and packed 800 food boxes to distribute. Seventeen churches, some individuals, a Sunday school class, and women’s mission groups provided the resources to purchase these boxes. On Saturday 17 those individuals who have received a voucher from the Department of Children and Family Services in each of the three counties will present their voucher and receive a food box, a Bible, and have someone to pray with them. Also individual churches have vouchers for the food boxes to issue those families that are not associated with DFACS. Volunteers from the Association’s churches will distribute the food boxes, distribute the Bibles, and have prayer with the individuals.
On Saturday, Sept. 10, about 100 volunteers showed up at the Second Harvest Food Bank on Clark Avenue, Albany, and packed the 800 boxes for the Love Our Counties Outreach and Food Distribution as well as sorting table after table of miscellaneous food items for the Food Bank.
