Albany Technical College President Anthony Parker and other leaders from the college presented Albany Mayor Willie Adams with a “Friend of the College” honor at a ceremony Monday. “With Dr. Adams’ support, Albany Tech has been able to secure SPLOST funding for the relocation of Lowe Road, as well as a pedestrian bridge across Slappey Boulevard,” Parker said. “Our Law Enforcement Technology program has been able to secure an out of service police cruiser and our Fire Science Technology program has become nationally accredited and is the training agency for the Albany Fire Department,” said Dr. Parker. “Besides doing all he could to see that Albany is recognized as a college town, Dr. Adams is the education mayor for both K-12 and higher education. He has gone out of his way to seek state and federal funding for the college and our community. He will always be appreciated by the Albany Tech family.” Mayor will vacate his post in January after nearly eight years in office. (SPECIAL PHOTO)
