Westover High School Principal William Chunn (right) and media specialist Cheryl Little serve cake on Monday as Dougherty County Schools Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree offers his congratulations to the school’s faculty for Westover meeting the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standard for 2011. It was Westover’s third straight year making AYP. The other Dougherty County schools to reach the milestone were International Studies, Lake Park, Lamar Reese, Lincoln Magnet, Live Oak, Magnolia, Merry Acres, Radium Springs Elementary, Radium Springs Middle, Robert Cross, Sherwood Acres and Southside Middle. Other area schools to make AYP were all Lee County schools; Worth County Elementary, Primary and Middle; and Cooper Elementary in Terrell County. PHOTO BY KEVIN HOGENCAMP.
