Preventable injuries rank among the top 10 causes of death for people of all ages – yet simple steps can make homes, schools and workplaces safer and healthier.
“Each year, nearly 150,000 Americans die from injuries, and another 30 million are hurt seriously enough to go to the emergency room,” said Dougherty County Health Department Adult Health Program Supervisor Vamella Lovett. “But just as it only takes a moment for an injury to occur, it only takes a moment to prevent one.”
The Dougherty County Health Department’s free monthly Lunch and Learn lecture program on July 8 will feature guest speaker Rick McDaniel, a retired paramedic with the Dougherty County Emergency Medical Service. His topic is “Safety Is No Accident – Live Injury Free.”
The event will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Education Center at the health department at 1710 South Slappey Blvd., and will include a free heart healthy lunch.
To ensure adequate seating and food will be available, please call 430-6230 to register in advance.
