Dr. Samuel Sears, Ph.D., an internationally recognized expert in the psychological care and quality of life outcomes of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) patients, will be speaking in Albany on Monday.
Sears will be presenting a program, titled “Maximizing Survivorship: Successful Living with Cardiac Disease and the ICD,” from 6-8 p.m. at Phoebe Northwest, 2336 Dawson Road.
Sears is a professor at East Carolina University, Departments of Psychology and Cardiovascular Sciences and director of Health Psychology.
He is dedicated to helping ICD patients understand the fear and stress that can be associated with their device. He is known for designing psychological coping strategies for ICD patients and their loved ones.
