Special to the Journal

The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators announced the winners of the 2010-11 NATYCAA Cup at its Convention in Orlando, Fla., where Darton College ranked No. 12 among the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) scholarship division colleges.

“Our final ranking in the Director’s Cup standings is a direct result of the hard work of the student athletes and coaching staff this past year,” said DC Director of Athletics Dr. Mike Kiefer. “This is the highest that Darton College has ever finished and proves that we are one of the best two year college athletic programs in the country. I expect our athletic programs to persevere and – not just sustain this success – but continue to move forward even with the budgetary challenges we are facing.”

This is Darton’s best finish since the Cup began in 2004. The NATYCAA Cup recognizes excellence in two-year college athletics based on success in championship competition. Points are awarded based on the final rankings of college teams. Darton earned a total of 86 points during the 2010-11 season.
