Albany State University football fans will have to wait an extra three hours to see the Golden Rams kickoff the 2011 season on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Golden Rams and the Savannah State University Tigers will face off in the Annual Music City Classic at 5 p.m., not 2 p.m. as originally scheduled, according to ASU athletic administrators.

The time change was made because of predicted weather conditions, said interim ASU Athletics Director Dr. Richard H. Williams.

“Several members of our athletics committee and The 100 Black Men of Macon-Middle Georgia, who are sponsoring the game, were concerned with weather and heat conditions for a 2 p.m. kickoff, so we collectively decided to change to a later time,” Dr. Williams said. “We want to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaching and training staffs, game officials and our fans during our athletic events. We believe the change will make all parties involved more comfortable for a great football game.”

The Music City Classic game will be held at Henderson Stadium in Macon, Ga. Ticket information will be released at a later date, Dr. Williams said.
