ASU to hold celebration of life in memory of Jesse Walker

Albany State University Department of Fine Arts will hold a “Celebration of Life in Music for Jesse Walker” at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in the ACAD Auditorium. The event will feature remarks by ASU personnel as well as musical performances in memory of the late Walker.

Walker, an assistant professor of music, died Friday, June 24. He was a conductor of ASU’s Concert Band as well as director of Low Brass and String Studies.

A funeral service for Walker will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 901 Westover Blvd., Albany. A public viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 1, at Shipp’s Funeral Home in Sylvester.
