While an enormous tree like this one killed a father and son in Jackson, Ga., early Tuesday, this oak tree barely missed the Pike home on Archie Drive in Lee County between Ledo and Fussell Roads near the skate center. Nine people throughout the South were killed by the storm, including two in Colquitt County. In Southwest Georgia, many homes and businesses remained without electricity, telephone or internet service late Tuesday. Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens estimated that more than $32 million in insurance claims will be filed statewide due to the storm’s wrath.
