TOP ORATORS
For the second year in a row, Westover junior Kensley Fields (right) captured the American Legion 2nd District High School Constitutional Oratorical Contest. His speech is entitled, “Our Voice, Our Vote, Our Constitution.” The contest consists of an 8-10 minute prepared oration on the Constitution and a 3-5 minute assigned topic speech on one of four Constitutional amendments. The assigned topic for the district contest was the 27th Amendment regarding Congressional compensation. Kensley moves on to compete in the area contest, where he is the defending champion, too, on Saturday at Albany State University’s Pendergrast Memorial Library. Also pictured, from left, are third-place winner Richard Morris of Mitchell County High and second-place winner Malena Brooks of Pelham High.
