MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE Albany, Ga. – Maintenance Center Albany, a subordinate organization under the Marine Corps Logistics Command here, is scheduled to host a Warrior Day event during the morning hours Friday, at its depot.
As part of the event, four combat-veteran Camp Lejeune, N.C., Marines have been invited here to be recognized and meet the Marines and civilian-Marines of MCA who provide the armored vehicles/equipment to forward-deployed warfighters.
One of the Camp Lejeune Marine visitors actually survived an improvised explosive device (IED) blast his light armored reconnaissance vehicle sustained while he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. The additional armor on the vehicle that was designed and installed by MCA workers here is credited for saving his life.
Among the schedule of events planned for the four Marine visitors are planned stops to meet the Logistics Command Commanding General, Maj. Gen. James A. Kessler; MCA Commander, Col. Terry W. Reid, tour MCA’s facilities and have lunch with some of the artisans who work on the armored vehicle line at MCA.
