The Darton Swimming and Diving Invitational was held against South Georgia College, Brenau University, and LaGrange College on Feb. 5. DC won the women’s and men’s sides.
Here are some highlights from the meet:
On the women’s side, the 200-yard freestyle relay including Sunnie Chason (FR-Bainbridge, Ga.), Veronica Adams (SO-Loganville, Ga.), Linn Nordberg (FR-Sweden), and Mary Burnette (SO-Albany) took first place with a season best time of 1:43.68. Nicole Hawkins (FR-Brunswick, Ga.) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.74. Nordberg finished first in the 100-yard butterfly while Burnette won the 100-yard freestyle.
On the men’s side, the 200-yard freestyle relay including Ryan Sloat (SO-Marietta, Ga.), Justin Akins (FR-College Park, Ga.), Jamie Bolton (Lognville, Ga.) and Brendon Aselton (FR-Roswell, Ga.) took first place with a time of 1:30.25. Wally Senter (FR-Atlanta, Ga.) won both the 400-yard individual medley and 200-yard breaststroke. Bolton won the 100 yard backstroke while Soerensen finished first in the 200-yard freestyle. Sloat finished in first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.67. Cody Spradlin broke his own school record in the 1 meter diving with a score of 231.40.
There were a lot of fast swims, including many season bests between the two meets this past weekend. Those are the last two competitions before we head to Buffalo, N.Y., at the end of this month. The national meet will be held March 2-5.
