The forced resignatin of Albany resident Shirley Sherrod in July from the U.S. Department of Agriculture is No. 7 on Mad Magazine’s “Mad 20″ — a list of the nineteen or so dumbest people, things and events of the year”. Sherrod was serving as Georgia director of rural development when blogger Andrew Breitbart posted video excerpts of Sherrod’s address at a NAACP event to his Website. The remarks made it appear as though Sherrod is racist. Upon review of the unedited video, Sherrod received an apology and was offered a new position. She has since refused to return to work for the Agriculture Department.
