Palmyra Medical Center unveiled its new Pediatrics Wing on Thursday to civic and business leaders and to the hospital’s medical staff. The 5,000-square-foot Pediatric Unit officially opened Monday.
The unveiling occurred during the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours networking reception.
“This new Pediatrics Wing is a shining example of the highest-quality inpatient unit,” said Palmyra CEO Mark Rader. “In response to requests from local physicians and our patients, we are very excited to offer southwest Georgia this choice for pediatrics care, which is unmatched in this region.”
The Unit was designed with children, adolescents and families in mind. It features spacious all-private patient rooms, a children’s play room, a family media center and a multi-media room for adolescent patients. It is also equipped with a patient-safety security system.
“Most important is that Palmyra has a team of experienced, dedicated pediatric nurses with many years of pediatrics training to provide the best possible care to our patients,” Rader said. “We are very pleased to have this level of nursing care for this new facility.”
Rader also said that all patient menus will be tailored to the tastes of children and adolescents through Palmyra’s recently introduced At Your Request Room Service program.
The new Pediatrics Center is part of a multimillion-dollar expansion program at Palmyra. These efforts include the addition of new service liens and major renovations projects.
