Anna Armstrong Brown of Dawson turns 100 years old on Sunday, Dec. 26, an achievement that will be celebrated with proclamations and birthday wishes from President Barack Obama, U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop and other dignitaries. An Early County native, she is the widower of Nelson Brown Sr. and the nine children, five of whom have passed away. She has 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Brown enjoys cooking, working in her yard and with flowers, watching Christian TV and soap operas, and visits from her family and friends. “Her secret to longevity is to treat everybody right, love unconditionally and help others when you can,” says her daughter, Shirley Paramore.
