On Sunday, Dec. 12, Albany State University will hold its fifth annual “Messiah Sing-Along.” The program will include all solos and choruses from Part I, also known as “the Christmas Section,” and selected works from Parts II and III, including the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
ASU voice majors and local professional musicians will perform the solos. All singers are welcome to participate on the choruses. Spectators are also welcome.
ASU began the “Messiah Sing-Along” five years ago making it a holiday tradition. ASU invites community participation from area civic, church and school choirs, and others who simply love singing or hearing “The Messiah” performed during the Christmas season.
ASU will have a limited number of “Messiah” vocal scores on hand to lend for those who don’t own one.
Dr. Leroy Bynum, Dean of the ASU College of Arts and Humanities, will conduct the performance. Members of the Albany Symphony Orchestra will provide accompaniment.
The sign-along will begin at 4 p.m. in the ACAD Auditorium. There is no admission charge. For more information, contact the ASU Department of Fine Arts at (229) 430-4849.
