The Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center are spreading a little Christmas cheer this year with a joint admission ticket on December 20, 21 and 22 at the reduced price of $8 plus tax for all ages. These prices cannot be combined with any other discounts. The joint ticket may be purchased at either location. The Riverquarium’s latest exhibit, Alien Attack: Target Everglades, offers a top-ten countdown of the most dangerous plants and animals and their threat to the area’s fragile ecosystems. Live aliens on display include the Burmese python, Mayan cichlids, exotic frogs, and more. The new Winter Holiday Exhibit at Thronateeska explores the significance of holiday traditions, such as the Yule Log, Christmas cards, mistletoe and the origin of Santa Claus. The Wetherbee Planetarium offers several choices, including the Season of Light show, which explores some of the warmest and brightest celebrations of the year. The Flint RiverQuarium will be open regular operating hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thronateeska’s extended holiday hours for the week of Christmas are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Both facilities will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Flint RiverQuarium will resume regular operating hours December 26. Thronateeska will re-open December 27 at 10 a.m. The Flint RiverQuarium is southwest Georgia’s premier aquarium, featuring more than 1,000 animals that call the Flint River watershed home. The Flint RiverQuarium is located at 101 Pine Avenue in downtown Albany, Georgia. Regular operating hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Thronateeska Heritage Center, whose mission is to inspire wonder and stimulate exploration of South Georgia’s history, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization located at 100 West Roosevelt Avenue, Albany, Georgia. Facilities include the History Museum, Wetherbee Planetarium, Science Museum, and Transportation Museum. Admission is free to the History & Science Museum. Annual Memberships are available. Group reservations may be scheduled by contacting the Thronateeska Heritage Center office at (229) 432-6955.
