Darton runners region champs

The Darton College men’s and women’s cross country teams both clinched Region XVII titles for the second consecutive year. Both the men and women’s team had a near-perfect score of only 19 points.

Bri Badie won the race to become a back to back Region XVII Individual Champion.

Badie finished with a time of 19:55.21, Shay Wright came in second with a time of 20:27.31 and Catherine Westerfield rounded out the top three with a time of 20:42.18.

The Darton men, were led Adam Ross who finished as the individual champion, clocking in a time of 26:56.00.  Brandon Lamb finished a close second with a time of 27:24.00.  Lamb was followed by Mehamed Gomez (27:39.00, 3rd) and Brandon Skiles (27:55.00, 4th).

On the women’s side, South Georgia College finished in second with 53 points and Chattahoochee Tech finished third with 59 points.

Chattahoochee Tech men finished in second collecting 46 points next was South Georgia College (64) and Gordon College collected 120 to take fourth.

The NJCAA Division I XC Championships are scheduled for 10 and 11 a.m., on November 13, at Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, SC. The women will run a 5K race first and the men’s 8K will follow.
