Taking our country back

By   /   October 29, 2010  /   Comments

Dear Editor:

I have a T-shirt that says “I’m taking my country back” and I keep getting asked “back to what?”  So here is my answer and it is not TO what, it is FROM what.

I want to take my country back from this power hungry federal government who is slowly taking not only my state’s rights away but also my personal rights and freedoms.  I am an adult and I do not need my government to decide what is good or bad for me.  If I choose something bad, then I will suffer the consequences.

I want to take my country back from the entitlement mentality, where everyone thinks the government owes them something.  The government owes you very little….to quote our Constitution…” insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.”   ALL the rest falls under state’s rights and personal responsibility.

I want to take my country back from the liberal progressive idea of redistribution of wealth and that we are all equal.  We are not all equal.  I am a 42 year old, college educated woman, I am not equal to a professional sports player, they have talent I do not.  The high school drop out that works at McDonalds is not equal to me.  I worked very hard for my education and I possess knowledge they do not.  The person who sits on the couch collecting 100% of their income from the government is not equal to that hard working McDonald’s employee.  There are reasons that some people are wealthy and some are not.  Mostly it is due to talent, education and hard work.

I want to take my country back from the people in power who detest what America really stands for….Freedom and Liberty, the land of opportunity.  They would like nothing better than to destroy our great country and turn it into a society ruled by an elite global government.

Finally, I would like to tell you to whom I want to give our country back.  I want to give it back to “We the People”.  I hope we have all learned our lesson that we cannot be lazy and complacent in taking care of Her.  We are really close to loosing all that we take for granted.  Government cannot fix it, only we Americans who love our country can do what is needed.  And that is…..TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.
