For the fifth time this season, Albany State University’s quarterback Stanley Jennings has been selected for football player of the week honors by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

Jennings was named Newcomer of the Week after his stellar performance in the Golden Rams’ 27-10 victory over the Benedict College Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The junior from Marietta, Ga. completed 10 of 20 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns, including a 90-yard pass to Ronnie Childs, in the Golden Rams’ victory. He also rushed for 43 yards on eight carries, averaging 5.4 yards per rush. Jennings led the ASU “Gold Rush” to 435 total offensive yards, including 227 passing yards

Senior receiver Ronnie Childs caught three receptions for 143 yards, including two touchdown passes of 90 and 28 yards. Senior offensive lineman Bobby Fitts, who graded out at 92 percent, was a key anchor on the offensive line which allowed 435 total yards and no sacks. Freshman kicker Brandon Hamilton kicked three good PATs and had four kicks for 183 yards, and senior linebacker Ernest Seay led ASU’s “Dirty Blue” defense with nine tackles, including five solos, with two and a half for a loss of nine yards in ASU’s win.    The Golden Rams will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to face Morehouse College for the Maroon Tigers’ homecoming on Oct. 23.
