Albany State University’s Brittany Carter ran this week’s top female individual time, earning her the SIAC Female Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the East Division.
A sophomore, Carter ran a time of 19:56.56 in the women’s 5K run during the Bobby Lang Invitational at Florida A&M University on Oct. 2. Her efforts helped Albany State run the top women’s time in the East Division with a total time of 1:46:40.36 and an average time of 21:20.06.
Sophomore Ambrosia Austin finished second in time of 20:52.32, and Freshman Ashley-Marie Duncan ran a time of 21:03.41 to finish fourth in the 5K run. Freshman Ebony Stone finished fifth with a time of 22:34.41.
Benedict College’s Dickson Toroitich ran a time of 25:47.60 in the 8K run during the HBCU Cross Country Challenge in Cary, NC, earning his second SIAC Male Runner of the Week honor this season.
Kentucky State’s Kieren Broussard and Kristina Record were the runners of the week in the West Division. Record, honored for the third time this season, ran a time of 21:14.24 in the women’s 5K race during the Louisville Invitational Classic. At the same event, Broussard ran a time of 26:57.30 in the men’s 8K run, earning his fourth weekly honor of the season.
Both ASU teams will compete in the Jacksonville State University Invitational in Oxford, Ala. on Saturday, and in the Troy State University Invite on Oct. 16.
