This photo snapped Oct. 16 at Chehaw’s Wild Animal Park by Americus resident Chris Barr of his beaming son, David, and wife, Christi, is sure to be on a Chamber of Commerce brochure someday. Meerkats, members of the mongoose family that live in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana and in South Africa, are among Chehaw’s newest animals. Chehaw guests are able to get up-close and peronal with the zoo’s first interactive exhibit, which includes a windwo that looks into the meerkats’ underground burrow.
