A breath from eternity

By   /   October 1, 2010  /   Comments

How can we forget that we were sent to the earth for a mission or purpose. God had a purpose for your life before you were born Jeremiah 1:4-8. The reason you were born was not only to give joy to your mother and father, but God had a mission for your life. You are not a mistake! For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. If you don’t know the reason you are here, ask God. He sent you and He will let you know the reason. It is so easy to get sidetracked from our mission by the cares of this world-the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

The lust of the eye is very dangerous because it is never satisfied. You accomplish one thing but there is always something else that is a little more captivating. At some point, we need to stop and consider is what I am doing a part of my mission or is it a distraction from my purpose. For life to be full, we must complete the mandate God has put on our lives. Whether preaching, teaching, nursing, or performing, our goal should be to may a different in a life and to bring glory to God. Every moment of our life we should be preparing for eternal life because so quickly we can obtain or loss it.

The lust of the flesh has caused many ills. How many families have been split, relationships spoiled and reputations tarnished by the work of the flesh-fornication, adultery, pornography, and all types of illicit sex. One partner should be enough to satisfy their mate for a life time if they follow God’s commands I Peter 3:1-7. Image if we would abstain from fornication and adultery, how many in our society would be spared the shame of a divorce or a dreaded disease. Flesh wants to have its way; therefore, we must control flesh or flesh will control us. Paul said, “ But, I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others. I myself should become disqualified. If flesh has its way, it will cause us to be separated from God throughout eternity.

Oh, the pride of life has cause many to sell their souls. The Bible says “For what profit is it to man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? St. Matthew 16:26. God doesn’t care that we have things, but He doesn’t want to be second to those things. He wants first place St. Matthew 6:33. God wants us to prosper and be in health as our soul prosper III John 1:2. Enjoy life to the fullest but be sure that God is the major part of your life. When this life ends, there is another life in heaven or hell.

Let us live life with a purpose. We never know when the breathe we take maybe the one that takes us to our eternal destination. I encourage you to accept Jesus Christ as your savior and complete your mission. I will see you in Paradise!
