Walter Rodemann, 81

Udo Walter Wilhelm Rodemann, 81, of Albany, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Willson Hospice House.

Walter Rodemann’s funeral service will be SATURDAY 2 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery.  The Rev. Walter Flint will officiate.

A native of Berlin, Germany, Mr. Rodemann had lived in Albany since 1957.  He worked for Albany Water, Gas, and Light, and retired as its General Manager after 34 years of service.  He was preceded in death by his wife Anneliese Jacoby Rodemann.

Mr. Rodemann is survived by his two daughters:  Ann Merchant and her husband Larry, New Orleans, LA, Ellen Kish and her husband Jeffrey, Milton, GA; his son:  Udo Peter Rodemann and his wife Suzanne, Evington, VA; 8 grandchildren:  Joshua Merchant, Kendra Merchant, Conlan Merchant, Laura Kish, Jennifer Kish, Rebecca Kish, Walter Rodemann, Roberta Rodemann.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Friday from 5-6:30 PM.

James L. Malone, 91

Mr. James L. Malone, 91 , died September 15, 2010 at his residence.

A graveside service and celebration of his life will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery 11 AM Saturday, September 18, 2010.  His family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

Mr. Malone was born November 6, 1918 in Escambia County, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mannie and Seola Malone, sister Nellie Mae Davis, brothers, Ernest Malone and Howard Malone and a daughter, Faye Carlton.

Mr. Malone graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, IL and Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park, MD.  He and his family moved to Albany and went in to business as Georgia Electric Company which he later sold and started J. L. Malone and Associates.  Mr. Malone retired in 1986 selling his shares to his Associates.

He was a member of several professional organizations including the National Electrical Contactors Association, National Society of Professional Engineers and Georgia National Society of Professional Engineers.  Mr. Malone served as a commissioner of the Board of Water, Gas and Light from 1975 to 1987.

He is survived by his wife of 7o years, Kathryn Brock Malone; daughters, Gloria Drake (Tim), Carolyn Dukes (Joe) and son Dickie Malone all of Albany; 8 grandchildren, Rusty McNeil (Robin), Tampa, FL; Kathy Weathersby (Jeff), Camilla; Toni McNeil, Albany; Michael Williams (Jennifer), Salisbury, NC; Leigh Ann Young (David), Knoxville, TN; Tina Allen (Eric), Newnan; Dana Spivey (David), Temple; and Carrie Bennett (Chris); 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
