ALBANY—The Lady Cavs rout ABAC in a 5-0 win. The win improves Darton, which is ranked No. 7 in the nation, to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in Region XVII.
Shenel Gall scored twice, while Sashanna Campbell, Rachel Hatch and Shelby Bush each scored once.
Goalkeeper, Fiona Ryan, collected another shutout on the year. Ryan has 16 saves.
The only time a goal was scored on Darton was in their season opener three weeks ago in a 2-1, overtime loss to defending NJCAA champ Tyler (Texas).
“The credit belongs to everyone because we haven’t been giving the teams we play any opportunities to score,” Coach Veilands said. “But that’s going to change Friday (at home vs. Georgia Perimeter). We’ll have our hands full.”
Campbell leads the team overall with 11 goals on the season to go along with two assists. Bush has scored eight goals and collected five assists.
Darton will face Georgia Perimeter on Friday at home at 7 pm. The Lady Jaguars are currently No.1 in the conference with a 5-0 record. They are led by Ngozi Esther Anyanwu, who has collected 16 goals on the season. Sophomore, Taiwo Adeshigbin, has 12 goals.
