Bishop, other pols are out of touch

By   /   September 14, 2010  /   Comments

The November elections are fast approaching and I urge each of you to exercise your right to vote and consider carefully who you want to represent you. It is important to know what you believe in when making this selection.

Months ago after many letters, phone calls, etc., I promised Sanford Bishop I would do what I could to see that he was not re-elected. It became obvious to me some time ago that he was not a fiscal conservative or a so-called “blue dog” Democrat. As he proceeded to vote for the stimulus bill full of pork, support cap-and-trade(which will hurt small businesses, farmers, and all citizens especially those in lower income brackets with higher utility bills), plus support card check which takes away one of our most sacred rights: a confidential vote for or against a union in the work place, I knew I could no longer support him.

His most recent votes for financial reform which leaves out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two major players in the downfall of the housing industry continues to show me he is not able to stand up to the pressure of his liberal democrat colleagues. The last bill to bail out teachers especially in union states took money from the food stamp program which they only hope can be replaced at some point in the future. Bishop does not represent me and many others in south Georgia if any of the above concerns you. In a nutshell, he has been in Washington too long to remember us.

When you go to the poles in November, please carefully evaluate what is going on in our country. Both parties have created our current situation and we have allowed it. Everything being done now will take away freedoms, add more government regulations and hurt the people that cannot help themselves. The politicians are really doing a number on our citizens, children and grandchildren.

In closing, please seek information that is reliable and vote you conscience in November.

Thank you and may God have mercy on our country.

Mary Davis
