The undefeated Albany State University Golden Rams continue to move up in the national football polls after going 4-0 in their 2010 football season.
Albany State moved up two notches in the American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) 2010 Division II Football Coaches’ Poll, which was released Monday. The Rams received 301 points to move to No.14 after defeating the Savannah State University Tigers 28-14 on Saturday in the inaugural “Rumble in the Swamp” classic in Waycross, Ga. The Rams entered the poll for the first time last week at No. 16.
Two other SIAC schools are also ranked in the AFCA poll. Morehouse College (5-0) moved from No. 20 to the No. 18 slot, and Tuskegee University jumped three slots from No. 25 to No. 22.
The Golden Rams remain No. 1 in the Heritage Sports Radio Network’s Division II football poll, with Morehouse at No. 3 and Tuskegee at No. 4. The Rams also jumped to No. 3 from No. 5 in the Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN) Black College Football Poll. The Rams have moved up in the Boxtorow.com/Black Athlete.com HBCU Media Top 10 poll, jumping from No. 8 to No. 4.
The Golden Rams will face Lane College at home on Saturday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Albany State University Coliseum in Albany, Ga.
