Albany State University junior running back Robert Welton is a nominee for the national football fan poll award, presented by The Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN). Welton was selected as one of four nominees for the National Player of the Week award for his stellar performance against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers on Saturday, Sept. 11, 28, at the ASU Coliseum.
Welton finished the game with 103 yards on 14 carries, including two 26-yard touchdown runs, in the Golden Rams’ 28-13 home opener over the Panthers. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry. The Macon, Ga. native led the “Gold Rush” offense to 403 yards of total offense, including 236 rushing yards on the day.
