Notes from City Commission Meeting

By   /   August 24, 2010  /   Comments

7:45 City Commission meets in a few minutes. My sources say that there may be at least five votes, maybe seven, to reverse the Cutliff Grove decision of one week ago

7:47 Sources tell me thart City Manager Alfred Lott’s immediate ouster may be requested tonight in an executive session.

8:13 Commission chamber is packed. Anxiety is high. Sources say Bob Langstaff, who is leading the efforts to oust Lott, is among those who will change Cutliff vote.

8:16 Commissioner Chris Pike must be among those seeking to do right at city hall — Lott just openly sneered when Pike opened with “From what I understand …”

8:42 City Commission just voted 6-1 to reject the Culiff settlement and to ask the district attorney to investigate how $364,000 in public funds were misused.

8:42 Commissioner Tommie Postell cast the lone vote against the independent probe.

A small victory but only if the DA does a thorough job. Why did we learn only yesterday that documents signed by Lott and Drake exists? Why did a reporter have to tell us rather than Lott himself?
