After his first game as a Golden Ram, Albany State University quarterback Stanley Jennings is a nominee for a national football fan poll award, presented by The Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN). Jennings was selected as one of four nominees for the National Player of the Week award for his outstanding performance against the Kentucky State University Thorobreds on Saturday, Aug. 28, in Frankfort, Ky.
Jennings passed for 267 yards, completing 13 of 19 passes, for three touchdowns to lead the Golden Rams to a 42-12 season opening victory over the Thorobreds. The junior from Marietta, Ga. led the “Gold Rush” offense to 418 yards of total offense on the day.
HSRN honors the top-performances on the gridiron for Division I FCS and Div. II each week. To add to the excitement, fans across the country can be a part of the action by casting votes for the player they think had the top performance in HBCU football. Fans can cast their votes for Jennings by visiting www.HSRN.com. Voting will be available on the HSRN.com home page (Fan Poll) until Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CST).
Other nominees this week, who are all from Division II programs, are Octavious Hawkins, quarterback at Winston-Salem State University, David Carter, running back at Morehouse College, and Malcolm Jenkins, defensive lineman at Elizabeth City State University.
