REGARDING THE CITY HR director’s dispute with City Manager Al Lott, it is ridiculous if all of this is true, and I tend to believe it is. It is way past time that Al Lott should step down and we need to remember this, too, when it is time to re-elect commissioners. Albany needs a thorough “house cleaning” in just about every are of government before this community is damaged beyond the point of no return. This USED to be a great town, it truly was “The Good Life City”, but now we are crime=ridden and full of wasteful, neglectful and sometimes outright deceitful politicians that care more for appearances than substance. We need people that will make Albany a better place to live and work once again.
I RECENTLY RESIGNED A position within the city of Albany government because of the EXACT same issues Ms. LaMont did. Ms. LaMont and I have met before on termination issues within my department and I was told to terminate at all cost, get rid of the person. When I refused to fabricate a story, they did and attributed it to me. I not only applaud Ms. LaMont but I wish I could stand beside her and fight. As does Nathan, I carried concealed weapons to protect myself from the city government and employees and citizens. This town is its own third-world country and will never be right. Continuing to write about city hall will do no good as the illiteracy rate here is astronomical. Ms. Lamont, thank you for having the backbone to stand up when and where I didn’t.
I COULD SAY SO much about the city HR director resigning, but I think it would start a war. However, I can say this, if Albany does not get rid of Al Lott and start making some serious changes, there will not be anything left to the town because of people leaving to get away from the racism.
A VERY WELL-GROOMED, detailed resignation, Mary LaMont. I feel that you have done all you could to resolve the problem. But, the problem will not be resolved in proper matter as it needs to be Don’t give up the fight! I will see that this matter is directed further with the Labor EEOC. It is time that the City of Albany be held accountable.
I HOPE YOU SUE the city of Albany for discrimination, Ms. LaMont.
A VERY WELL-WRITTEN letter. Thank you, Mary LaMont, for bringing this issue to light. I hope you succeed in all further endeavors.
YOU GO, MARY LAMONT. I hope you win. I know all about not being the right color to work in Albany.
IT IS ONLY A matter of time before these matters will come up on the federal offices’ radar and they become involved. Thus far, local law enforcement has proven itself, time and time again, that faith in justice has to and always should remain in the hands of our Lord and not in APD or the City of Albany.
IF IT’S TRUE THE police locked a man overnight in an interview room, this sounds like an unlawful detention, maybe kidnapping, and places the city at enormous risk for substantial damages. Lott’s incompetency keeps placing the city at risk time after time. Let’s hope the City Commission is smart and committed enough to the city’s well-being this time to fire Lott and to reprimand Proctor before the lawsuit hits.
THANK YOU, ALBANY JOURNAL, for the truth.
THANKS FOR THE UNADULTERATED truth. Kudos to the AJ!
THE TRUTH OFTEN HURTS those who try to cover up the truth. As far as the Journal, let me tell you. This is the only unbiased newspaper we have here in Albany. If the corruption is going on, the Journal is not afraid to tell us. How else would we know? They all do a good cover-up. All the corrupt officials need to answer to all of us, not just the Journal.
ALBANY HAS BECOME THE joke of Georgia. Crime is high and the government running things is a circus act. The local government is full of promotions made for reasons other than qualified and that shows with Mr. Lott’s words.
THERE WAS A TIME when this city was actually “The Good Life City”. That ended quite some time back and continues in a sad, downward spiral. We have a “taking back our neighborhoods” (from crime) program … we need A “taking back our city” program. Alas, if I could have lived in Albany 50 years ago instead of now. I hear that it was a nice place then.
I GAVE AL LOTT the benefit of the doubt at first.
