Whatcha Say, Albany?

THANK YOU, ALBANY JOURNAL for the truth.

THERE IS YET ANOTHER love triangle involving a ranking Albany Police Department detective, a married woman, and another man. The APD detective has been seen in the company of the married woman and had, until recently, even posted a photo of the two of them on his internet page as a “couple”. The married woman was previously involved with another man at the same time as well. And information here is that the APD detective and the other man have been involved in some type of non-physical altercations over this woman. While this case has not yet made the news, the fact that there is some information floating around within the community should cause some concern or raised eyebrows. Here are my questions: After all of the recent events over the past two years involving APD officers and love triangles or worse, why doesn’t the office of Internal Affairs or other department address these matters before they get so out of shape that Albany becomes a city and community of a laughing stock to the rest of the State and the U.S.? Isn’t there some portion of moral turpitude or ethical conduct that governs how these officers should adhere to conduct both on and off the job? And speaking on the matter of ethical conduct, at some point wasn’t APD’s own Internal Affairs investigators being investigated, why? Are we so short-sighted as to have forgotten all that we have been through since 2008 with the allegations of the improprieties of then Chief James Younger … ?

REGARDING THE JOURNAL’S ARTICLE about the man who was accidentally locked overnight in the police station … well, here we go again. They know good and well who did this. And don’t look to the city to do anything. City Manager Alfred Lott will not be fired, Nathan will not go to the jail, and the mayor will keep riding around at our expense. The GBI will do nothing.

THANK YOU FOR PUTTING Whatcha-Says online. In fact, thank you for doing what you do and not allowing people to tell lies when they send in Whatcha-Says.

IF (THE ARTICLE ABOUT the man who was accidentally locked overnight in a police station interview room is) true, this sounds like an unlawful detention, maybe kidnapping, and places the city at enormous risk for substantial damages. Alfred Lott’s incompetency keeps placing the city at risk time after time. Let’s hope the City Commission is smart and committed enough to the city’s well-being this time to fire Lott and to reprimand Police Chief John Proctor before the lawsuit hits.

THEY KNOW WHO LOCKED that man up. APD has always done what they want. They do what they want regardless of who they hurt in the process. Every person, from the chief down, that had any involvement in that man being locked up for that long should be held accountable. The GBI should be alerted of all the things that go on at APD so they can open an investigation and clean that place up!

I’D HATE TO BE the cleaning crew for THAT room! LOL.

ADMINISTRATOR ALAN Ours is one of the main reasons that Lee County has run so smoothly these past few years. He will be missed and he will leave a large pair of shoes to fill. We could not have asked for a finer man to be our county administrator.

Thank you, Alan. You have a beautiful family and I wish all of you well in the future.

THIS IS VERY SAD news. Alan Ours will be missed.

REGARDING THE ARTICLE ON the city citing the Donut Factory for promoting its business, that’s why I opened my business in Lee County.

THE DONUT SHOP SHOULD be on the other side of the street in Lee County and not in the Good Life City.

I WISH I COULD move my business to Lee County! Albany is not Small Business friendly.

IT IS FUNNY JUST how much some people seem to hate signs. As long as they are not blocking the view in such a way as to cause an accident, who cares? Businesses have enough trouble staying in business these days without the added hassle of dealing with our sign ordinance law.

REGARDING THE VICTORIAN HOME in danger of being demolished: Why didn’t they make repairs along the way before it got to this point? There has been money available. You just have to do the work to apply for the grants. Look at the Georgia Business magazine for this month highlighting a couple who has saved several properties in this area suffering from the same problems. The “government will take care of it” attitude is why this country is falling into the ___ faster every day. Come on people! Really? Our city is so backwards. We have very few historic buildings left. What about the Tift House? Sold and moved. What about Iris Court? Sold and moved. What about the Edward Vason Jones courtroom? DIVIDED and turned in to offices. Like they needed more space. I am soooo sick of the attitude of this town. Nothing is sacred. Our history is what makes us. It forms our thoughts and provides us direction to the future. If the children have no clue what has happened here other than crime, then what can you expect for our future in the Hood Life City? We have a beautiful statue of a music star who never really lived here, but tear down historic sites to rebuild replicas of them (Radium Springs). I worked and lived downtown for years, and loved it. I sat in on Historic Albany meetings of citizens who want to preserve our past, but constantly get shot down by those upper-authority blowhards who’d rather give their mistress money to start a business than help our community. I used to love this town and have done plenty to try to make it a better place, only to be exhausted by efforts that don’t make a difference.

FUNNY THING IS, THIS was my great grandmother’s home until her death. To prepare it for sale, we allowed the Designer Showcase to be held there. It really did look beautiful. Then we sold it to the sorority who promised they wanted it so they could fix it. They have done nothing to it since that sale. I am totally disgusted in the lack of care … Very few remaining buildings of interest in this town. I am sure few remember one of Albany’s finest homes that sat across form this one. Byne insisted on tearing it down to pave for a parking lot that they never took care of. Now it is a desolate eyesore. Is this what we plan to do yet again?

LET’S SEE IF DR. Murfree will stand up, admit it, and do something with those who changed the CRCTs. It is his chance to prove that he is going to be a worthy, strong leader.

WHAT IS METHADONE AND what does it do? Now my reason for asking, someone came up to me the other day wanting to sell something called methadone. Now this was while I was outside a store. I thought this was a drug to help people get off of drugs. But this person told me it gave you a good high. Not that I wanted it. I told him to go away or I would tell the store manager or call the police. But here in Albany, you’d get more out of the store owner. Where do people get this? How do they get it? And what makes them want to sell it if it can help get them off drugs? And is anyone watching the people they give this to?

AS AN EX-EMPLOYEE of FedEx, there is no surprise in this news reported in the Albany Journal for me. I am from India still fighting against the management with help of our union. My overall request to USA staffs in FedEx: Please, please start and fight for our rights.
