John Hampton Reese

The funeral service of John (Buddy) Hampton Reese, 68, of Albany, who died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Palmyra Medical Center, will be conducted Wednesday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church in Dawson. Dr. Emil B. Askew will officiate.

A native of Dawson, Mr. Reese lived in Dougherty County since 1978, coming from Terrell County.  He was a member of Chickasawhatchee Baptist and was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. and Sara Reese, a sister, Clare Wiard and a brother, Bill Reese.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Reese, a brother, Ed Reese, both of Albany, four sisters, Rachel Askew and her husband, Dr. Emil, of Dawson, Margaret Widener and her husband, Jon, of Orange Beach, Ala., Nell Freeman and her husband, Joe, of Dawson, and Duanne Lupo and her husband, Richard, of Parrott, and several nieces and nephews.

The family was to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mathews Funeral Home. The family is at their residence at 1809 Hancock Road, Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church, P.O. Box 28, Dawson, GA 39842.  Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Shellman, Ga.

Wilma D. George

The graveside funeral service of Wilma D. George, 92, who died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Lee County Health Care, will be conducted Wednesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.

A native of Meigs, Mrs. George resided in Adel before moving to Albany in 1957. She was employed with Coats and Clark for 25 years and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Johnny and Donna George of Oakfield, Ga., two daughters, Sherry Quaglietta and her husband, Frank of Leesburg, and Teresa Peterson of Kenosha, Wisc., nine grandchildren, Mac George and his wife, Kelli and Tracy George and his wife, Alesia all of Leesburg, Scott George of Albany, Michael Quaglietta and his wife, Jenny and Marci Quaglietta, all of Leesburg, Jenny Ewing of Columbus, Ohio, Grant Peterson of Kenosha, David Miles of Leesburg and Lisa Haggerty and her husband, Patrick of Short Hills, N.J., a daughter-in-law, Joan George of Albany, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd George and a granddaughter, Marla George.

The family was scheduled to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mathews Funeral Home. The family is at the residence of Sherry and Frank Quaglietta, 461 Fussell Road, Leesburg. A registry is at www.mathewsfuneralhome.com.
