April 19, 2010 ALBANY, GA. — After winning a thriller against the Lafayette (LA) Wildcatters, the still-undefeated Albany Panthers set their eyes on a strong Greenville Force team reeling from their first loss of the season. The Panthers sit atop the SIFL standings at 2-0, while the Force is 2-1.
The big difference this week is the date (SUNDAY) and time (5:00PM) with doors opening at 3:30PM. The matinee game was scheduled to resolve a league and venue conflict. “The City of Albany has been a major supporter of indoor football in the area including the approval of Sunday alcohol sales at the Albany Civic Center”, said Assistant City Manager Wes Smith. “We really want this to work for the community”.
“Greenville is a very strong team and they play extremely hard. I am sure they would like to win on our home field,” added Panthers General Manager Will Carter. “The Sunday game is a novel concept and we expect even more fans to attend. We will have the same benefits as any other game and more…including beer on Sunday.”
