Pataula Charter School in Bluffton, Ga., is set to open this August. The new charter school will have K-6 grades and will be open to children in Baker, Clay, Calhoun Early and Randolph counties.
Bluffton is about 15 miles north of Blakely and 10 miles from Arlington and Edison. Almost 200 students have already applied for admission with plans for an enrollment of 350 students at opening of school.
There has been no breakdown of students per county so far, but its proximity to Early, Clay and Calhoun counties should see the majority of those students attending the school.
The school will employ 14 teachers and budget for $1.8 a year to start. There will be two classes for each of the K-6 grades. I have not heard of a Dougherty-Lee-Worth Charter school plan, but logic dictates such a future facility.
