Annelle S. Davis

Mrs. Annelle S. Davis, 74, of Albany, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside funeral services were held Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Charles Jones officiated. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Davis was a lifelong resident of Dougherty County and a 1955 graduate of Albany High School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and caregiver to her mother. She was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Sarah Nell Strawder, her brother, Leo Strawder Jr., and her son, Richard Davis.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene Davis; her daughter, Teresa Davis; her sons, Eddie Davis and Teddy Davis; her grandchildren: Matthew “Matt” Davis, Nicole Davis, and Eric Davis; her sister, Janie Martin, and her brother, Jerry Strawder and his wife, Judy, of Franklinville, N.C.

Benjamin (Ben) F. Cash

The memorial funeral service of Benjamin (Ben) F. Cash, 66, of Sylvester, who died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, was conducted Friday at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Story officiated.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Mr. Cash resided in Sylvester since 1990, moving from Lee County. He was a printer at Albany Printing Co. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by two sons, Franklin Cash and William Scott Payne; his parents, William Thomas Cash Jr., and Etta Nadine Cotton Cash.

Survivors include his companion, Margaret Bryant of Sylvester; sons, Benjamin Franklin Cash Jr. and Ronnie Cash, both of Tallahassee, Jamie Cash, of Albany, and Billy Bryant, of Sylvester; a daughter, Kimberly Fillingim, of Tallahassee; brothers, William Thomas Cash III, of California; James H. Cash and Claud Cash, both of Tallahassee; sisters, Barbara Ann Coppola, Janie Mansco and Pamela McDaniel all of Tallahassee; and six grandchildren.

Brenda McFay Beaver

Mrs. Brenda McFay Beaver, 2800 Fleming Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at her residence. Her memorial service was held Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors handled the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Beaver, Albany; daughter, Jennifer Justice and husband, Ralph, Worth County; sons, Shannon Beaver, Albany, Jason Beaver and wife, Shaya, Albany; sisters, Adell Powell, Pensacola, Fla., Sylvia Shawver, Bartlett, Tenn.; brother, Mac McFay, Bainbridge; aunt, Bea McFay, Albany; and a granddaughter, Madison Justice.

Hazel Grace Weldon Reynolds Duke

Mrs. Hazel Grace Weldon Reynolds “Nana” Duke, 76, of Albany, died on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. She is now resting in the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett S. Reynolds.

She is survived by her husband Charles D. Duke; daughter and son-in-law, Reta R. and Ronnie L Bush; daughter, Jane Shiver, son and granddaughter, Jeff and Angel Duke; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Mark O’Hearn; daughter, Lisa McElreath; nine grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel spent her life serving others whether in deed or service as a cosmetologist for over 40 years and will be missed greatly by all those whose lives she touched.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Floral Memory Gardens. Her family members officiated. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors handled the arrangements.

The family will receive relatives and friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Mildred Evelyn Bullington

Mildred Evelyn Bullington, 82 of 1512 Gillionville Road in Albany, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel. Rev. Bobby Harrell and Rev. Bobby Moye officiated. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors handled the arrangements.

A native of Telfair County, Ga., Mrs. Bullington lived most of her life in Albany, where she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Bullington will be remembered most for the love she gave to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her love of gardening.

Survivors include her sons, John H. Bullington and his wife Sandra of Pelham, and D. Glynn Bullington of Albany; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Martha Brooks of Lee County and Mary Shepherd of Albany.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 E. 16th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015-1512.

Minnie M. Galvin

Mrs. Minnie M. Galvin, 94, of Albany, died Monday, Nov 2, 2009 at her residence.

A funeral mass was held Friday at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. Rev. Finbarr Stanton officiated. Internment followed in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Galvin lived in Albany for 33 years. She was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and cooked for the priest for 18 years. She taught CCD at St. Teresa’s and Holy Angel’s in Pittsburgh, Pa. She received Bishop Gartland Award at Diocese in Savannah.

She was President of Council of Catholic Women in Southwestern PA and also cooked for the Nun’s and Priest in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Craft Group at St. Teresa’s and Catholic Friends. She also volunteered at St. Clare’s Soup Kitchen and an accomplished China Painter.

Survivors include her son Patrick Galvin and his wife Nancy of Albany; two daughters Rosemary Baughman and her husband John of Albany; Betty Ann Bramble and her husband James of Albany; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary service was held Friday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

Charles (Charlie) Edwin Sayres

Charles (Charlie) Edwin Sayres, 84, of Smithville, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at his home. His memorial service was held Nov. 7 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors. The Rev. Dr. James Huffaker officiated. The family

A native of Charlotte, N.C., he had lived in Smithville since 1995. Mr. Sayres was a Presbyterian and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired with 33 years of service with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., serving as vice president of the Southeastern Real Estate Investment office. He was a life member and retired board \member of the National Rifle Association, an honorary life member of the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club, and a founding member of the Ashford Club in Atlanta. Mr. Sayres was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Bunny) Sayres.

He is survived by his two sons, Rusty Sayres and his wife, Neoma, and Chuck Sayres.
