Delora Sterne Brown, 83, of Albany died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness.
A native of Albany and long time resident, Mrs. Brown was a very kind and loving mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all. She was a graduate of Albany High School and of the University of Alabama. She loved to travel, read, was a champion bridge player, and possessed a tremendous sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Love Wilder Sterne and Delora Leggett Knight, her brother, Edwin Leggett Sterne, her husband John Todd “Jack” Brown Jr., and her daughter Florence Secord Brown.
She is survived by her son, John Todd Brown III, of Birmingham, Ala., her daughter, Elizabeth Wilder Brown, of Baltimore, Md., her grandson, Zachary Todd Brown, of Savannah, her granddaughter, Katherine Ann Brown of Birmingham, her sister-in-law, Elinor Crawford Sterne of Birmingham, two nieces, Ellin Sterne Jimmerson of Huntsville, Ala., and Pamela Sterne King of Birmingham, and her daughter-in-law Korrie D. Brown of Birmingham.
