Derrick Tennant has been doing comedy for as long as he can remember. Unfortunately, since he has Alzheimer’s, that might not be very long. Hey! who’s counting, math major?
Get it? Like it? Then you’ve gotta see Tennant this Saturday at ApplexJax Sports Bar & Lounge, Albany’s only comedy club.
Hate it? Then stay away.
There are a lot of funny comics; there are a lot of clean comics. Hard to find a truly funny clean comic. Tennant seems to be making it his mission to change that. Being able to do the same routine at a comedy club on Saturday night and a church function Sunday is a pretty cool, but rare thing.
Get it? Hate it? You know the deal.
Because of an injury, Tennant – who has appeared on the Comedy Central network and BET-TV is unable to use his left arm. “Lefty” as he calls his arm (don’t ask), finds his ways in to a lot of Tennant’s material. His unique and often inspirational form of comedy will leave you with both laugh lines AND a good perspective on life … OK, and like 10-20 less dollars in your wallet. Thirty-five if you buy the T-shirt.
If you go: Derrick Tennant and Chris Nohr will perform at Applejax Sports Bar and Grill, 1303 E. Broad St., at 10 a.m. Saturday. Admission is $5. Info: 883-9850 and on Facebook.
