Albany State Lady Rams beat Lady Lions in conference match

Albany State’s Latrice Lewis, Sabrina Garcia and Bonnie Salary recorded nine kills each to lead the Lady Rams to a 3-0 victory over the Paine College Lady Lions on Friday at ASU’s HPER Gymnasium. The Lady Rams won 25-17, 25-10 and 25-23 to up their record to 11-6 overall and 10-1 in SIAC play.

Carolina Ribeiro led the Lady Rams defense with 15 digs, and Davisha Moore added 12 digs. Lewis added eight digs, two solo blocks and a service ace, and Calary added three digs and a service ace. Garcia recorded a solo block. Priscila Sena had 37 assists.

Victoria Claytor led the Lady Lions with 12 kills and 10 digs. Fernisha McMillian led Paine’s defense with 16 digs and Janae Kearse had 12 digs and four kills.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Oct. 7 against the Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats in an SIAC match-up in Fort Valley, Ga. ASU’s October road tour also includes matches against Alabama A&M University on Oct. 9, Miles College on Oct. 10; Claflin University on Oct. 12 and Clark Atlanta University on Oct. 17. The Lady Rams will play in front of a home audience with they return home on Oct. 22 to play the Fort Valley Lady Wildcats at 6 p.m. in HPER Gymnasium.
