CRIME Alert: Use extra caution during holidays

The holiday season is almost here.

At our upcoming town hall meeting, the Albany Police Department will give us safety tips for the holiday season. Our speakers will be Albany Police Chief John Proctor and Lt. Tracey Barnes, District 4 supervisor.

Celebrating the holidays, we tend to let our guard down and become relaxed; however, scam artists, identity theft, bank and credit card fraud, motor vehicle theft, and burglaries do not take a holiday in our community.

If you are concerned as I am about a safe and healthy community for the citizens of Albany, please invite senior citizens, neighbors, friends and students to the meeting and get involved and be educated on community issues. The meeting will be at the East Albany Community Center, 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd., on Saturday, Oct. 24. It will promptly begin at 10 a.m. and will be approximately 1½ hours in length.
