Charity Texas Hold’em poker tournament to be held Thursday at Thronateeska

Thronateeska Heritage Center is set to host another Charity Texas Hold’em Card Tournament. The fund-raising event will be held Thursday (Sept. 17) at River Pointe Golf Club, 801 River Pointe Drive. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. with tournament play starting at 7 p.m. A $1,000 first prize will be awarded.

Each player will receive chips worth 5,000 points and play no-limit Texas Hold’em poker. Players must be 21 years or older to play. When players loses all chips, they must leave the table with play continuing until one player remains. A complete set of rules is available by calling 432-6955.

Food and beverages will be available from the River Pointe Restaurant. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Thronateeska Heritage Center’s Education Programs. The top prize of $1,000 will be awarded the day of the tournament in addition to door prizes and prizes to the other top seven finishers. Players may register the day of the tournament if seats are available. Participants are encouraged to sign up prior to Thursday by calling Cheryl Jones at 432-6955 or Michele Bates at 881-6274.

Thronateeska Heritage Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization at 100 W. Roosevelt Ave. Facilities include the History Museum, Wetherbee Planetarium, and Science Museum. Admission is free to the History and Science Museums. The Wetherbee Planetarium shows are $3.50 per person. Annual memberships are available. Group reservations can be scheduled by contacting the Thronateeska Heritage Center office at 432-6955.
