Freddie Lee Adams

Freddie Lee Adams, 56, of Albany died Wednesday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Copeland Family Cemetery in Valdosta, Ga., with the Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating.

A native of Valdosta, Ga., Mr. Adams had lived in Albany for several years. He was a 1971 graduate of Lowndes County High School and was a graduate of Valdosta State University. He was employed for more than 30 years for Miller Brewing Company as senior manufacturing systems engineer and was a member of the Beattie Road Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. The other loves of his life were hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Gaskins Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Touchton Adams of Albany; two daughters, April Adams Monie (Bill) of Atlanta, and Stefanie Adams Cowart (Charlie) of Arlington; four grandchildren, Austin, Jackson and Ashlyn Monie, and Weston Cowart; his father, Junior Adams of Howell, Ga.; and his brother, Charles Adams of Statenville, Ga.

Pamela “Pam” Gail Connell

Pamela “Pam” Gail Connell, 53, of Bainbridge, formerly of Madison, AL died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral services will be 2 PM Friday September 4, 2009 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors and the family will receive friends, 6 PM to 8 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

A native of Albany, GA, Ms. Connell has lived in Madison AL until moving to Bainbridge GA a few weeks ago. She was a member of The Restoration Church in Madison and loved to read her Bible. Other loves in her life were, cooking, puzzles, computer games and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jack and Geraldine Slay Connell and her brother, Ronnie Connell.

She is survived by two brothers: Craig Connell (Wynn) Connell of Bainbridge, Dennis Connell of Huntsville AL, and her sister, Lisa Maria Connell McKendree (David) of Destin FL; two nephews, three nieces and one great-nephew.

Stanley M. DuPree

The memorial services of Stanley M. DuPree, 86, Albany, GA, who died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Evergreen Assisted Living will be conducted Thursday, September, 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Pollock will officiate.

A native of Gordon, GA, Stanley graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950. Mr. DuPree and his wife moved to Albany in 1955. Together they served their community for over forty years as owners of DuPree Drugs. Stanley was a lifetime member of Sherwood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Mize Dupree.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Keith and Theresa DuPree of Lee County, two daughters and their husbands, Claire and Randy Pierce of Rome, GA and Timna and Billy Benson of Conway, SC, eleven grandchildren, John Yarbrough, Kap Yarbrough, Ashley Crowder (Todd), Maggie Mushara (Wes), Jennifer Goode (Paul), Ashley Everett (David), Kip DuPree, Matt DuPree (Lydia), Katie Coffee (Chad), Marty Benson and Katie Benson and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.

Mary Fore

Mary Tissue Fore, 75, of Conway, S.C, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Conway Medical Center. Graveside Services honoring the life of Mrs. Fore were held Thursday, at Leesburg Cemetery. Hall and Hall Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mary Tissue Fore was born March 21, 1934 in Sumter County, Ga., the daughter of the late Joe Franklin and Mattie Jane Tissue. She was also predeceased by her husband, William Starling Fore Jr.; her son, George Calvin Fore; and two sisters, Jane Wise and Lou Elva Smith.

Mrs. Fore was of the Baptist faith. Mary enjoyed working with flowers of any kind. She loved her family very much. Mary is survived by four daughters, Betty Ann Kelly (Randy) of Galivants Ferry, Kathy Martin (George) of Conway, Connie Willis (Gary) of Georgia, and Mary Brillante (Sonny) of Florida; one son, William Steven Fore (Patricia) of Georgia; George Calvin Fore’s daughters, Lydia Ann Fore of Myrtle Beach and Franciner Georgette Young (Ben) of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other family and friends who will miss her.

Lynette Knighton

The funeral service of Lynette Knighton, 60, of 3737 Leary Road, Albany, who died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, was conducted Saturday at Gillionville Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Haefs officiated. Interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A lifelong residence of Albany, Lynette was a retired 911 dispatcher with the City of Albany and was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gracie Mae Phillips Powell.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. (Barney) Knighton Sr., her father, Fred Powell, a daughter, Kim Brown, and a stepson, Thomas L. Knighton Jr., all of Albany; a brother, Larry Powell, of South Carolina; and five grandchildren, Kayla and Brandon Maier, Brady and Gracie Brown and Robbie Knighton.

Rev. James (Jim) P. Loucks, 67, of Somerset Dr. in Albany died August 31, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Thursday 10 AM at Poplar Arbor Congregational Church in Sale City, GA. Rev. David Wood officiating. Interment will be 4 PM at Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Alma, GA.

A native of Shinglehouse, PA, Rev. Loucks has lived in Albany 27 years where he served as a full-time minister and evangelist in South Georgia for 18 years and was retired from Georgia Department of Corrections. Rev. Loucks was a graduate of Norman Park Seminary. Rev. Loucks will always be remembered for his love of family and preaching the gospel.

Survivors include his wife, N. Jean Loucks of Albany, son, James P. Loucks, Jr. and his wife Debra of Venice, CA, daughter, Michelle Loucks of Anaheim, CA, step-son, Brian W. Granberry and his wife Lisa of Leesburg, step-daughter, R. Michelle Buckley of Albany, grandchildren, Rebekah Jean Granberry, Cailee Granberry and Brandon Couch, brother, David Jones of Denver, CO, several aunts and cousins.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Gladys M. Petty

The graveside funeral service for Gladys M. Petty, 85, of 1904 Palmyra Road, who died Saturday, August 30, 2009 at Palmyra Medical Centers, was conducted Tuesday at Floral Memory Gardens. Pastor Gilbert Harris officiated.

A native of Berry County, Mo., Mrs. Petty lived in California most of her life before moving to Albany in 2004 from Oregon. She was a retired practical nurse and loved to travel. She was preceded by her husband, Don Petty, and a daughter, Iris Deatherage.

Survivors include her sister, Jane Clark of Leesburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Eunice Lee Taylor

The graveside funeral service of Eunice Lee Taylor, 80, who died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, GA will be conducted Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 3:00P.M. at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Dr. Ron Baxley will officiate.

A native of Slocum, AL, Mrs. Taylor had lived in Americus, GA since 2007, moving from Albany. She attended First Free Will Baptist Church, here in Albany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Emma West and by her husband, William “Bill” Taylor.

Survivors include three sons, Chuck Jowers and his wife Lenora, Mark Harness, all of Albany, Ronald E. Fuller and his wife, Wanda, of Donalsonville, GA, one daughter, Terese Cochran and her husband, Michael, of Brandon, MS, one brother, Cecil T. West of Prattville, AL, one sister, Carolyn V. Etheridge of Sylvester, GA, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from Wednesday 2:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.
