Protesting socialism is patriotic, not racist

By   /   September 17, 2009  /   Comments

Former President Jimmy Carter proclaimed that an overwhelming portion of those who are outspoken against the socialistic policies of President Obama are doing so because they are racists. In his unsupported, judgmental, self-righteous statement, he displays an attitude that reveals more about his own bias than any supposed bias on the part of patriotic Americans who choose to exercise their right to influence public policy.

Democrats are the first to play the race card when they start losing on the field of public opinion.

Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson went to even more outrageous extremes predicting a return of the Ku Klux Klan. It is time to put aside the despicable practice of finding racial conspiracy under every bush and let us have open, candid, debate on the issues of importance.

  1. Kathryn Stripling Byer says:

President Carter proclaimed no such thing. He was responding to Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s speech. I fear he was right about the racist undertones in Wilson’s outrageous display. Anyone who grew up in SW Ga., as I did, knows those undertones well. As for the overtones, all you need to do is watch the vile racist placards being displayed on the news and over the Internet. Republicans call this Patriotism. I call it racism
