We’ve been through this before. A message goes out about an upcoming gang initiation. Here’s how I handled such an inquiry this morning.

I got a text from a friend in Albany that says, “Dont go to wal-mart this week its gang initiation week they are killin 3 females and 3 cops tell everyone you kno that lives in or near Albany Ga.”Do you think there’s any merit to it? I’ve heard of stuff like this with gang initiations, but it’s usually stealing something or beating somebody; I didn’t know they killed people. Anyway, just passing it on.

I’ve heard of this sort of thing before, which thankfully has always turned out to be urban legend. The mission, I think, is to invoke fear. I’m passing it along to law enforcement, just in case.
